 As Christmas approaches, I feel a deep sense of happiness and satisfaction with my decision to leave Enesco and found my own company, Seasons of Snickles.  After two years, I am more convinced than ever that my philosophy of limiting the number of new pieces and allowing them only in a limited number of retail stores protects and enhances the value of your Snickle collection.

 

My Snickles and I are the cover of the November Show Me The Ozarks magazine.  I’ve designed some easels which will be perfect for displaying the magazine and I will include a signed copy with each easel.  Hopefully, I will have additional unsigned copies at the checkout.  In December, I will be featured in Todays Woman, a magazine included in some area newspapers and at local businesses. 

 

This October I was invited to participate in an Art Walk in Pineville, Mo.  Since I was born in a house seven miles from Pineville, this was a wonderful “home-coming”.  It was a glorious fall day and the collectibles I had designed to commemorate the occasion were gone in a flash!  With over 700 people attending, the day was considered a huge success.  Hopefully, this will become an annual event.  In fact,   everyone may have gone there and perhaps no one will even show up for Open House!

 

Since I simply do not have time to send individual mailings, other than for my Open House, if you want to be notified about upcoming events, it is essential that you sign up on our e-mail list via my website, www.lindalindquistbaldwin.com.  Or, if you don’t       have a computer or e-mail, you might consider joining the Snickle Club.  I write an article in each newsletter which keeps collectors informed about my events, activities, etc.  Even if you aren’t able to attend the club meetings, I think the newsletter alone is worth the $12.00 annual dues. 

 

Recently, we have heard from collectors in Scotland, Norway, England,   New Zealand and all across the United States who feel left out because distance prevents them from attending my Annual Open House and the Art Walk.  Therefore, I’m considering a special event which will include all collectors, regardless of where they live.

 

I’ve been very busy with speaking engagements this year.  I have especially enjoyed speaking to Red Hat groups across the country.  These zany ladies add sparkle and excitement to the aging process.  I love it when wrinkles and double chins are practically a status symbol!  In honor of these lovely ladies, Red Hat items will be sprinkled throughout my Exclusive Edition collections.

 

I’ve sculpted a lot of  original papier-mache Santa ornaments and several original papier- mache Santas this year.  In addition to my originals, I have a wonderful variety of Exclusive Edition pieces which will be available only at this event (enclosed is a list describing them). The collection will include Bells, Santas, Snowmen, Home Décor and Red Hat items.  Most of the Exclusive Editions pieces will be signed, numbered, dated and boxed.  There will also be something new this year - matched sets of Santa figurines, bells and ornaments, all with the same number.  I will also introduce my “Second in a Series” Holiday Celebration Exclusive.  Door prizes will include an original papier-mache Santa and Church.

 

The names of everyone who signed up last year for an opportunity to purchase an original papier-mache Santa this year will be placed in a basket.  The first name drawn will have first choice and the second name drawn will have second choice, etc.  This procedure will continue until all Santas are gone.  If your name is drawn, you MUST be present to select your Santa.  You may sign up this year to be included in next years Santa drawing.


When you arrive, you will sign in and receive a number.  This number is very important so don’t lose it.  There is no reason to come early to get a low number (but for best selection, don’t arrive late) because all numbers will be drawn randomly.  When your number is called, you will be entitled to enter the “other room” and select a special treasure (including my original papier-mache ornaments).  After all numbers have been drawn, everyone will have equal access to any remaining pieces (aka – the mad dash!).  If you don’t have time to wait for your number to be called, we plan to have several   pieces available for purchase without a number.


While you are waiting for your number to be called, you shouldn’t be bored.  You may browse the two museums (the customary fee will be waived) and enjoy the new exhibits.  There will be wonderful refreshments for you to enjoy and I will be signing throughout the day.  Please un-box your pieces to be signed and limit the number to three at a time.  If you have additional pieces, and time allows, you may get back into line as often as you like.  Drawing times for the original Santas and door prizes, as well as signing times, will be announced.

 Because of the extremely limited number, we will not be able to reserve pieces.  Since some collectors travel from all across the USA for this event and go to great effort and expense, it isn’t fair if pieces aren’t available because we have reserved items for people who do not attend.  There are enough “Second In A Series” pieces that I anticipate some may be left.  If so, we will gladly send you one or more.

ORIGINAL PAPIER-MACHE SANTA ORNAMENTS--$15.00

A new Santa design on a rusty tin sled.  Each one-of-a-kind ornament is hand-sculpted with papier-mache.  The following story explains the significance of the rust and glitter (You bet they go together!)

 

When I was a little girl, I got up at 4:00 a.m. so I could get the cows and do my other chores before going to school.  During the winter, when it was freezing, I didn’t mind leaving my warm bed and facing the bitter cold outside because I knew I would be entering a winter wonderland.  The moonlight danced upon the frozen ground creating a shimmering carpet beneath my feet.  The glistening frost also transformed the rusty tin roof on our old barn into a cloak of sparking diamonds and the rusty farm machinery miraculously became glittering works of art.

 

These magical scenes are forever etched in my memory.  That is why, for me, rust and glitter will always go together.
